This place is seriously underrated! But that's ok because I love how it hasn't ever been too crowded every time I go :) Carmela is the type of ice cream shop that makes their own flavors in small batches and therefore the menu is ever changing. Some flavor staples are the salted caramel and brown sugar vanilla bean. They make their own waffle cones, cookies, and marshmallow which is even used in their rocky road flavor!
Service is impeccable, the staff is always friendly and generous with their scoops. You can split one scoop into two flavors which I really appreciate. Last time I got the buttermilk strawberry and verbana lime - super refreshing on a warm summer day!
Oh and our dog loves coming here too -

It has been years since I've been to Carmela...and the last time I went, it was to the Pasadena location. Ice cream is still my favorite dessert, and after tonight, Carmela is still my favorite here in SoCal. Since I never make it to Carmela anymore, I settled for two scoops in a waffle bowl. Lavender Honey and Earl Grey.
The flavors are super rich and outstanding, the ice cream is creamy and fantastic quality, and the scoops are huge. I was really ambitious...and I actually finished my whole order.
Tip: If you order Earl Grey and Lavender Honey, ask for the EG on top. The LH flavor is really strong and it over powers the EG so I had to try to dig out the EG from the bottom first to enjoy the flavor.
Parking can be a pain the butt during the day...but at night (we came back around 9pm on Saturday) it's a lot easier! Definitely not going to wait another few years to come back!!! -

Cute little shop, no where to sit so minus points for that. They sell an assortment of baked goods already packaged and some in their small display as well, with about 10 different flavors in-house.
Nothing is made at the store location but shipped out from a warehouse, additionally their baked goods are from another vendor.
Ice cream flavors have all been done before so this is ideal spot for those who truly enjoy a slight twist on nostalgic childhood flavors such as strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. Although the ice cream was good, did not make me want to buy a scoop after sampling a few. Their chocolate sorbet is admittedly extremely creamy considering it is a sorbet so that was a pleasant surprise.
A good sweet, cute shop if you're just looking for ice cream but not something I would go out of my way for. -

Stopped in late as we were walking by and couldn't resist! The guy working was very friendly and let us sample a few before deciding. The brown sugar vanilla is my absolute favorite and my friend really enjoyed the Lavender Honey ice cream. One scoop is just the right amount if you're feeling desserty. Their thin chocolate chip cookies are also fantastic- they look plain and simple but pack a surprising amount of flavor!!

Way to expensive for an ice cream. They don't have enough flavors to choose from. I got the salted caramel and it was alright. Not worth the price for this joint.
